Summary

Getting ready for 2.3 alpha 2, 2.2.5 bug-fix release

Recent News

We held off early this week on releasing 2.2.5, as there have been several issues reported recently that required Hotfixes and we wanted to be sure to get all of those issues taken care of in 2.2.5. On the plus side the extra time meant that more Collector fixes were able to get into the 2.2.5 release, including a number of outstanding WebDAV support problems. DAV-aware clients such as GoLive and Cadaver will now work much better with Zope 2.2.5.

I'm still hoping to get 2.3 alpha 2 out the door before the end of the month. We were shooting for the week before christmas, but there are still a few unfinished tasks on the plan for the a2 milestone that probably won't make it due to folks being gone for various times during the holidays. The alpha 1 release has been relatively problem-free so far - thanks to those who have been testing and reporting issues.

Action in the Fishbowl has predictably dropped off as people head off for the holidays. Most of the action has been in projects that are sprinting for the finish line for 2.3:

Near Future

I hope to make a 2.2.5 b1 release Thursday the 21st and (barring any problems) a 2.2.5 final right after the holidays. 2.3 alpha 2 will come out roughly along with 2.2.5 final.

Documentation

by Michel Pelletier

Amos and I are pleased to announce the new, improved, Documentation Section of Zope.org! Check it out! We got status areas, descriptions, processes, and everything else you want to know about documentation on Zope, including actual documentation! Merry Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas I won't be spending mine at the office, so next week's ZWN will be handled by the venerable Amos Latteier. Many people have send us comments on the book that we haven't responded to yet, don't worry folks, we'll get to 'em! Thanks to all who have read the book and caught our silly errors.

New Zope.org Look?

I'm working on a new zope.org look and feel. My goals are xhtml 1.0 strict compliance, extensive use of CSS for styling, and degradability all the way down to text browsers without changing the page. You are invited to come view the effort and laugh at the sisyphean task
