README for SilvaLocalContent

General

This product is an add on to the Silva CMS.

It provides (yet experimental) support to have content in multiple languages. The language variants of one content object can be edited and published independently from each other.

The tree of all contents supporting a language forms a proper subtree of the complete content tree; before a content object may have a language variant this language must be supported by its container. This guarantees e.g. the navigation path never has "holes". Depending on if public demand asks to relax this feature this may be handled less strict in upcoming releases.

This product contains no means to manage the design elements in a multi-language fashion; there are other tools like Localizer and/or TranslationService to do this.

State

As You may have already guessed from the version number this is pretty experimental code. Do not use it in production instances. Do not create valuable content with it. Just installing the product may break something. You have been warned.

Most probably there will be a next release smoothing out some rough corners and fix some bugs and misfeatures. Most probably this will contain a sentence like "If You have any objects from older releases, remove them before upgrading the product." There will be no upgrade code from the current state.

Dependencies

This release is tested with:

  • Zope 2.7.5
  • Silva 1.2 (with the "usual" baseline mentioned there)
  • Localizer 1.1.0-beta5

Please note that You need at least the beta5 of Localizer 1.1 as earlier versions are not compatible with the product "PlacelessTranslationService" Silva depends on.

Any of the Zope in the 2.7-line should do, though I have only tested it with 2.7.5
