Overview - Classifieds Archetype content type

This product allows you to add and categorize classifieds to your Plone 1.x site

There will be more detailed information here soon.

Download it here

Requirements

This product requires the following packages and has only been tested with the versions listed. It probably will work with other versions but your mileage may vary (YMMV).

  • Zope 2.7.0-b3 (Win32)
  • CMF 1.3.3
  • Archetypes 1.0.1

Installation

Download the archive and unzip it into your Products folder and then restart Zope. You should also have CMFQuickInstaller installed in your Plone site. In the ZMI find the portal_quickinstaller tool and click on it. Once there you should see Classified as an option to install. Place a checkmark next to Classified and then click the install button.

That's it. I'll have more detailed instructions up when I get the time.

Use

Once you have the product installed you should have two new folders at the root of your Plone site - one named Classifieds and one named ClassifiedsCategories. From the Plone interface navigate to the folder_contents of the ClassifiedsCategories folder. From there you can add categories into which you can categorize your classifieds. You can place sub-categories within other categories.

Now that you have some categories you are ready to add your classifieds. You can really place the classified content types anywhere within your Plone site, however it's nice and tidy if you place them in the supplied Classifieds folder. Also, the Classifieds folder only allows content of type Classified to be added so it will be easier for a user that isn't as, how shall we say it, not as skilled as you in adding content.

You must publish the Classified before it will show up in the classified_tree_slot. Speaking of which, if you want the slot to show up you need to add it to your portal Properties in the left_slots or right_slots section.

I'll get some more detailed instructions up later. For now, that should get you started.
