More information on XML in Zope and XMLWidgets can be found in the Zope-XML wiki. In particular:

XMLWidgets versions after 0.3 are a complete rewrite of XMLWidgets. Currently a lot of features of the previous XMLWidgets are missing, but what has been added is editability from the Zope management interface. The older information is probably still helpful, but note that it may not be completely correct concerning versions 0.3 and higher.
