ZeoMailingListDiscussion

I don't know if this is the right place to start as I am not real familiar with ZWiki or Wiki, but here goes.

I know there will be a qualified set of users which will get to participate in the beta testing of ZEO before full community release. Many are not qualified but are very interested. I think it would be nice if there was a mailing list that everyone could see so that a learning process can begin for the community.

The community is currently fairly new and in the dark about the ZEO process. ZEO is an answer to the scalability concerns of Zope. I'm sure there are lots of questions which would like to be asked.

I think a mailing list can open up the process to everyone even if not everyone has ZEO. A ZEO mailing list can be created or just send input to the Zope-dev list.

Just some thoughts.

Would there be any potential for allowing people who are doing development only, not deployment stage, into the beta program? Using ZEO could change the way I design the app. At least this is a thought from what I read in the description.

I am very interested in learning the ZeoArchitecture and capabilities but am only in a development phase. In other words, I will not be offended by crashing or data corruption as I am in total control of the system, access and backups, etc. I thoroughly understand this is a work in progress.

Just a thought.

I think allowing people doing development only in on the game would be very beneficial, especially if an app can be coded to take advantage of features or mechanisms provided by ZEO.

I am all for a mailing list, btw.

As far I can tell from reading the current specifications, ZEO is completely transparent. You can't even tell if you are running with ZEO or with plain FileStorage :)

Me too for the mailing list, though.

Is there an official way to become a qualified user for ZEO? We are currently serving 9 sites off of three dedicated Zope servers and would find ZEO VERY useful to keep our developement and design changes in sync across these multiple systems. This is great thing you folks at DC have done. -- Thank You.
