Open Infrastructure for Outcomes | Software Package | 2002-06-25 | The current version is OIO-0.9.9. The is the alternate download site for the OIO project. The main site is at http://www.txoutcome.org The Open Infrastructure for Outcomes (OIO) is a Web-based system that manages users, patients, user-extensible forms, and reports. It is in production at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. We use it as an case and outcomes management / clinical research information system. You can check out some screenshots or you can see it in action at our production site: www.TxOutcome.Org. As an anonymous user, you will only be able fill out a registration form (which does run on the OIO). If you like, you can fill out a registration form to get a public access account and try out the system before you install the OIO on your own server. The OIO is written in Zope/DTML and uses Postgresql. If you don't like Postgresql, it would be trivial to adapt it for other database backends. Currently, the OIO can be used to create forms, manage patients, collect information using the forms, and generate aggregated reports about groups of patients. If you are interested in collecting data about "non-patients" - e.g. for your customers, I suppose the OIO system will work just as well. So, I would think the OIO can also be used to create CRM applications for your business, ecommerce portals, etc. The OIO is still relatively weak on user management although that is a priority area for development. Now that Zope has a new security model in place, I am hoping that new versions of Zope will not break the user management tools. |

Open Infrastructure for Outcomes production site | Link | 1 K | 2003-08-02 | This is the production site of Open Infrastructure for Outcome (OIO). It is the portal to the public access and dual diagnosis treatment outcome project servers all powered by Zope. Visitors can try out the OIO through the New User Registration and Demo section. The registration system runs on the OIO. Once registered, Visitors can use the fully functional public access OIO system. |
ZSVG_Graph: Generate Graphs, Charts, Diagrams using W3C Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) | Software Package | 2003-09-06 | [Project Home ] [[5000,8000,9800,9900]">Activate Demo ] [ Download] Aims: Dynamic Generation of User-customizable Graphs, Charts, DiagramsThe OIO Project has had a Reporting module for at least 2 years. Many users have mentioned it would be nice if the OIO system can generate graphs from the data. Furthermore, with the addition of Workflows module, it would be helpful if the software can display diagramatic representations of the workflow.
The only graph making toolkit (that I know of) for Zope (which is what OIO runs on) has been ZGDChart. ZGDChart is quite nice but it generates an image file output. This limits interactivity after the graph or chart has been downloaded to the web-browser. It also does not draw diagrams.
When we first considered using SVG, the only browser plug-in was from Adobe. Now that Mozilla offers adequate SVG-rendering capabilities out-of-the-box, the time has come to begin using SVG in OIO. ZSVG_GraphSVG is quite easy to use but requires a graph-making API to really make it into a convenient graphing toolkit. So, this is what I have cobbled together - a very limited beginning but already quite useful for our needs. Since ZSVG_Graph may be useful even without the rest of the OIO system, I decided to release it as a stand-alone product after initially including it in the OIO snapshot release on August 15, 2003.
About Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)Briefly, SVG is a W3C "recommendation" (=standard) for describing graphics in XML. Recent Mozilla web-browser releases directly support rendering of SVG graphics in the web-browser without need to install any browser Plug-in. For other browsers, Plug-in [Adobe] is available for those using Microsoft and Mac OS. KDE Konqueror [KSVG] also should have SVG rendering capability in the near future.
